One of the activities that the Catoctones enjoy participating in is the opportunity to perform the national anthem at high-profile professional sports events. 2020 will be no exception, as the chorus will be singing their four-part arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner for the local Frederick Keys and Baltimore Orioles baseball clubs.
Last July, the Catoctones were fortunate enough to enjoy some TV and radio coverage at Camden Yards at the start of the Baltimore Orioles vs. Washington Nationals game. On July 17th, both the MASN television network and several radio stations had already begun broadcast coverage at 7pm as a passing storm forced a 90-minute delay, enabling the Catoctones to sing for the broadcast audience as well as the fans in attendance.
This year, the Catoctones will provide the national anthem again on Wednesday, April 29th for the Orioles evening game against the Kansas City Royals.
Also, the chorus will make two performance appearances at Nymeo Field for the Frederick Keys. First, the Catoctones will participate in the family-focused “KeysFest” celebration from noon until 1pm, singing some of its current repertoire in the concourse area for the entertainment of fans. Later in the year, the Catoctones will provide the anthem for the Saturday, June 13th 6pm game against Wilmington on another fan-favorite fireworks night.
