The Frederick Catoctones mens barbershop chorus will be honoring our country at three more professional sports venues this summer, after successful recent auditions.
Beginning on Monday, April 30th, the Catoctones will be singing its barbershop rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner for the evening game between the Nats and Pittsburgh Pirates. This will mark the first ever appearance by the Catoctones at Nats Park and chorus members are hoping that this will be the first of many potential invitations.
After submitting a recording to Nationals Staff, the Catoctones were informed that they were one of 50 acts invited to Nats park on February 23rd for a live audition. With short notice, six members, Chuck Boteler and Gary von Lehm (bass), Cameron Korb and Jim Byrd (lead), Rich Heffner (tenor) and Greg Brown (baritone) made the trip and impressed judges (and other contestants) enough to earn one of only a few invitations for this year.
The group will bring between 12-15 members to sing on the 30th. If you’d be interested in attending the game and supporting the Catoctones, there are a few tickets left at just $15 each. Simply email [email protected] for payment information or questions.
If you can’t make the Nationals game, the Catoctones have also been selected to perform at Orioles Park at Camden Yards on June 26th and will make a return visit to Harry Grove Stadium to sing for the Frederick Keys game on September 1st.
